ARTIST EDUCATOR & LECTURER

My teaching explores place through painting, by examining both the intimate personal exploration of what it is to be in, as well as our relationship to a place through drawing, walking and deep mapping. My practice and teaching also examines the word landscape and what it means to us today.
 
Nearly all my teaching begins with a walk, including walking through our imagination as well as actual places and includes themes such as geo-mythology where painting practice investigates ancient monuments, folktales and poetry, as a result I incorporate and teach with materials that are symbolic and sympathetic to the natural environment, including chalk-gesso, egg tempera and oak gall ink.
